=============================================== T I T A N S Q L A N Y F O R D E L P H I Version 5.0 =============================================== INTRODUCTION: Titan SQLAnywhere is the world's best SQLAnywhere interface for Inprise's Delphi and C++ Builder development tools. This file provides late-breaking news and information on Titan that could not be included in the manual. TABLE OF CONTENTS: This document includes the following: * What's New * Pricing & Upgrades * Requirements * Installation Notes * Notes and Known Problems * Maintenance * Feedback * Final Comments WHAT'S NEW: 11/22/99 Delphi 5.0 Final Beta Release * Titan for Delphi 5.0 no longer includes a package for InfoPower 2000. All uses of TwwtsTable and TwwtsQuery will need to be changed to be TtsTable and TtsQuery types respectively. Edit your DFM and .PAS files accordingly. The final release may include better support for this conversion. * Added a help file. The help is not complete in this beta release. * The new manual is not included with this beta release. * Please report any bugs with this build to 'batphone@reggatta.com'. * WARNING - We'll be using a completely new registration and password management scheme when this upgrade finally ships. Be sure you have registered your current copy as we are not going to allow upgrades for anyone not registered. * Thanks for your patience. -- Changes in 'P' Release: * Multiple memos to same blob, text disappears - fixed. * Ranges with multiple fields not working - fixed. * Findnearest (hence TwwIncrementalSearch with a Table object) - fixed. * Locate with partial key - fixed. * Blob returns wrong length - fixed (thanks Derek Agar) * One Embedded double quote in a string literal in a query caused problems - fixed. * Some Date/Time stamps causing exceptions - fixed. * Long varchar for D1 not converted - fixed (thanks again Derek). * DateTime fields for parameters cause exceptions - fixed. * This release now supports InfoPower 4.0. InfoPower 4.0 uses a new package naming scheme, and code in the Titan SQAINFOP package has been changed to use it. To make Titan work with InfoPower 3.0, you'll need the source code version of Titan to change the unit reference back to the old InfoPower unit. PRICING & UPGRADES: This product is priced like all other Titan engines and is $395 for the run-time version, and $595 for the source code version. If you are a Titan SQLAnywhere List Server subscriber, this upgrade is free, and you will be notified via the list for upgrade details. With this new release, all developers will be given access to the list server for free. You may still purchase the $200 support plan, which will provide free upgrades for one year. All other Titan SQLAnywhere developers can upgrade for $129.00. This upgrade includes free access to the Titan SQLAnywhere list server, which formally cost $200. REQUIREMENTS: To use this product you MUST have: * Delphi 5.0 * SQLAnywhere for Windows Titan does not ship with the SQLAnywhere engine. If you are trying out Titan SQLAnywhere with a test drive release, you must have SQLAnywhere installed already on your machine. Visit the Sybase web site at 'www.syabase.com' to download a free trial version of SQLAnywhere. TEST DRIVERS: If this version is a Titan Test Drive version, then the product is fully functional except that your Inprise tool must be running when your compiled applications are run. Please note that it is in violation of the Titan license agreement to use a Test drive version for anything other than product evaluation. INSTALLATION NOTES: * Installation of Titan now requires that you install the Titan package SQATITAN into your component library. In Delphi 5.0, simply select 'Component' from the main Delphi menu, and then select 'Install Packages'. Select the package SQATITAN.BPL in the directory where you installed Titan. * If you are also using the Test Drive of Titan Access or Titan Btrieve for Delphi 5.0, you'll have to get the latest version as the BSETITAN package has been updated and changed significantly. NOTES & KNOWN PROBLEMS: * Titan SQLAnywhere does not ship with a sample database, as the SADEMO database that comes with SQLAnywhere is already available on your machine. The Titan SQLAnywhere chapter in the manual uses examples that refer to the SADemo database. During installation, Titan attempts to create database aliases for the SADemo database, but you may want to confirm the setting before running your Inprise development tool. * Records added with Cached updates active will not show in a grid, but they will be added to the table if the cached updates are committed. We may add support for the display of inserted records in an update release. Check out the example in CACHEXMP.ZIP for a demonstration of cached updates. * Cached update records are stored in memory, and you will eventually run out of memory if you put too many records in the cache. Each record in memory uses the record size + 260 bytes for a bookmark + a few bytes for a linked list entry. Don't overload a cached table. If you have a large number of records to manipulate, use a transaction instead. MAINTENANCE: Reggatta Systems now provides an annual maintenance program that includes free upgrades for one year at a cost of $200 per year. The Titan SQLAnywhere list server is now free to all REGISTERED users, so get your registration card back to us right away. FEEDBACK & PROBLEM REPORTING: Please feel free to use our new bug tracking system on our web site. Be sure to search the system to see if anyone else has already reported your problem. If not, fill out a report, and we'll work with you to get it resolved. You can also send email to: SqlAnySupport@Reggatta.Com FINAL COMMENTS: The Titan license agreement states that you need one copy of Titan for each developer using the product. If you have multiple developers sharing one version of Titan, you should contact Reggatta Systems to obtain the correct number of licenses. We don't want to have to impose some sort of copy protection, and we want to continue to provide you with a quality product. *** END OF TITAN READ ME ***
